20150303 - FRANCE

***  Update:   I had doubts about the name of the lighthouse depicted on one of the stamps.  The confirmation came directly from the designer  thru Jaap,  a friend and reader of this blog from the Netherlands.  Like I said, the designer Mathilde Laurent confirms that the lighthouse is Cape Fréhel and that the old tower was not drawn in the final work.  Thanks again Jaap for providing the info. ***

This breed of goats belong to the region of Bretagne (among others), and it is there where is located in the map on the cover of the booklet.
After a search of lighthouses in that zone,  the only that have a similar shape, is Cape Fréhel (A-1698).  But there is a problem. There are 2 lighthouses in Cape Fréhel, and one of them (the old one) is missing in this stamp.  Maybe is another and I am not looking correctly.  So, until a personal look of the stamp, this info is subject to changes.

(*) This booklet will have a special presentation  in the Agriculture Salon in Paris on February 21.
This is a special request for the readers from France. The designer Mathilde Laurent will be present in the event. A very nice opportunity to talk to her and ask her about this lighthouse and also to get autograph ítems of this issue.  The booklet of Cows was also designed by she.

GENERAL INFO - Daymark stamp from Aland

Do you remember this stamp?  It belong to the recent serie about Sailing Ships from Aland.  I was trying to find some information about that white structure in the island.
Today I received a very interesting info directly from the Aland Postal Service.  It is not a lighthouse,  but they describe it as   "...a cairn, i.e. a sea mark built in stone and without lights ...".

There are readers from this blog that are interested in the theme Daymarks too.  For Gary and all of them, here you have a very nice ítem to add to your collections.

Thanks to  Kristine Lybeck Sund from  ÅLAND POST LTD  for the info.

GENERAL INFO - Postcard from Iceland

Hello Friends:

General Info. This is a new type of entries in this blog.   Sometimes, looking for new stamps, I find ítems from the Postal Offices related with our theme that I do not post because they are not stamps.  Official postcards, cancellations, collectors issues, etc.
Starting now I will inform about them under this title.  You will see these entries organized by type of ítem at the right bar in this blog.
I will not follow these items in a thorough way like I do with the stamps.  Feel free to help with information about them.  I start in 2015.  I will not list items from previous years.  And I will not list Personalized stamps.  I dislike the concept of personal stamp.  Sorry but I resist to inform about them.

Here it is the first item listed under this title and it comes from Iceland:

Iceland Post / Postphil published every year a set of postcards.  This year, one of the twelve released is this one:

It depicts  Reykjanes lighthouse in Reykjanes Peninsula.  The photo is from Skarphéðinn Þráinsson and the official date of issue is January 23.
